Multi-National Comparison of Current Status and Perspectives of Asset Management

INTRODUCTION

In order to actualize sustainable economic growth in the Asian region, it is necessary to secure the safety and security of social infrastructures and facilities with appropriate maintenance and management. In this circumstance, asset management is attracting attention as a methodology for maintaining and managing an enormous amount of social infrastructures and facilities, which vary broadly in construction time, structural characteristics, environmental conditions, and use conditions, and it is being distributed rapidly in Asian countries. However, managers and researchers in the Asian region never held a meeting to discuss the current situation of asset management in Asian countries.

The objective of this asset-management personnel’s conference is to grasp the current situation of asset management in Asia from the comprehensive and panoramic perspectives, based on the reports on the situation and outlook of asset management produced by managers in Asian countries. In addition, this conference will be utilized as the opportunity to glean basic information for :
(1) Understanding problems regarding asset management in each country
(2) Finding common issues in the entire Asian region, through the comparative analysis among several countries.
